Families in the little village of Staplehill have been participating in the �Autumn Traveling Dinner� for several years. The anticipation builds each year to see if anyone can out do the families from the year before. Appetizers will be served at the Henderson home where Edith and Edward have been preparing their newest version of �Corn Fritters� and a �Maple Nut Carrot Salad.� Then, it�s on to the Ritter family who have prepared the main course: Roasted turkey with stuffing, potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry salad, homemade dinner rolls, and roasted vegetables. Once they loosen their belts, they will travel on to the Meehan household for coffee and a wide range of desserts including pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, and pumpkin rolls. They end the same way they started asking God for his blessings on their families, friends, community, country, and those who serve our country.
Take a stroll with me through whimsical folk art scenes depicting the lives of interesting people and their families, like 73 year old Mabel of Whitby Cottage who had to retire her bike to her garden. I enjoy writing simple stories about the everyday folk who inhabit these scenes. When you click on the scene, a little story tells you about the people who live there. My imagination comes alive as my brush works on the canvas and I dream of quaint little villages where I would want to work and live.......Or, you can simply consume one of my calorie free pieces of dessert yumminess!
